Relay for Life

On June 19, 2009, I particpated in the Relay for Life for the first time.  To get involved made me feel wonderful.

Do whatever you can to support the cure, the awareness, the movement.  Each person makes a difference.  I felt blessed to be able to walk with the survivors.

All the Survivors walked the first lap, then the caregivers with the suvivors walked the next lap, then all the supporters walked with survivors & caregivers.  It was fun.  The weather was beautiful.  The crowd was charged with excitement.

After the initial ceremonies and walk, the survivors were honored with a dinner.  The food was catered by Wegmans.  It was very yummy.

One of the co-chairs for the survivors was Gina Mancini.  The same woman who puts the artshow together for the Raritan Bay Medical Center. She invited me to attend this function and asked me to share a personal story of my cancer journey.

Thanks, Gigi for giving me this opportunity to share my story with all the survivors that evening.

After this event, I decided to make contact with several cancer organizations, and they have accepted to exhibit some of my artwork.  I have been asked to speak at the St. Cancer Center Center's hosting part of the Lilly Oncology on Canvas collection which will be exhibiting on October 2009.  Opening reception will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2009.
